We sat
in the evening
by the fire
wrapped in blankets
to keep out
the cold
warm plates of food
in our hands
she and I
sharing words
to live forever.
We talked
through the night
and the next day
until
it was dark
when
exhausted by
what we had done
we slept the sleep
of those
who have satisfied
a basic need.
