Having
let her hair
down
at last
freed her
in ways
she hadn’t
imagined
though
she would
live and die
in the town
where
she was born
not once
venturing beyond
the city’s limits
relief from
certain longings
a consequence
of realizing
gratification
would never be
possible
less sad
than true.
