Black hair
brown skin
smiling face
he wasn’t from
around here
but with gifts
like his
there was no need
to wait in line
which
he hadn’t known
and when told
said
he was happy
where he was
but
aware now
of other possibilities
made him wonder
if
he might not prefer
going where
he could
more easily make
the most
of what
he had to offer.
