I picked up
messages
for
several nights running
hugged my daughter
kissed her cheek
told her
I love her
and said goodnight
too
but then the messages
stopped coming
the sender satisfied
I
have to assume
that
what was intended
had been understood
a relief
because
not entirely sure
if
what I had heard
was
what had been said
even now
with all signs
pointing
in that direction.
