The
long night
was punctuated
with
panic attacks
I
mostly recognized
for
what they were
but this
was another
of those instances
in which
primordial fears
swallow consciousness
whole
like Jonah
disappearing
into the belly
of a beast
better times
waiting
down the road
after recovering
from an experience
he
would never forget.
