Having
long ago
established his credentials
as an observer
with those in power
he called
everyone together
explaining his need
to participate
in certain activities
of great interest
to him
asking in turn
for their support
and guidance
in advancing
what was
on his mind
the nuts and bolts
of which
were beyond him.
Everyone
sat quietly
for a time
then
one
two
three voices
complementing one another
told him
what needed doing
to ensure success
assuring him
they would be there
every step
of the way
to see him through
what he wanted
to hear
after dropping
all pretense
about his strengths
and weaknesses.
